Safe Routes to School Plan
Overview
The City of Brainerd, City of Baxter, and ISD 181 in conjunction with Region 5 Development Commission created this Safe Routes to School Plan in 2018. Starting a Safe Routes to School Program is an opportunity to make walking and bicycling to school safer and more accessible to children and residents, including those with disabilities, and to increase the number of children and residents who choose to walk and bicycle.Creating and implementing a Safe Routes to School Plan allows public entities to apply for federal grant funding set aside specifically for creating safer routes to school.
